- I... have no memory of this opening scene. Dax looking very blue waiting for Kira? "Why don't you tell your Uncle Quark all about it?" ?!? "You got stood up, didn't you?" "I'm waiting for Major Kira."?? Quark attempting to flirt with Kira this late in the series and getting shot down? This is wild.
- Omg, I don't remember this conversation between Garak and Bashir either.
- Garak: "Commander, this is extortion." Sisko: *thoughtful look* "Yes. It is." Amazing Garak + Sisko scene.
- This episode in general is kind of wild, because kidnapping the first officer aboard DS9 and surgically altering her to be Cardassian is just such a crazy, brazen action for the Obsidian Order to take. Like, how would this not be a HUGE diplomatic incident? And then there's the bizarreness of Garak popping in to Cardassia briefly in order to shoot an Obsidian Order member and then popping back out. A lot of this episode seems really contrived to me but to be honest, I don't care because this episode does such great character work with Kira. The concept of Kira being gaslit into thinking she might have been a Cardassian spy all along, and how that would affect her sense of identity, is too cool to pass on, and any contrivances needed to make it happen are fine with me!
Quodo potential:
- I'm at a loss, to be honest. XD This episode is *so* Kira-focused -- it's hard to find something to latch onto in this episode that could also work for Quodo, and Quark and Odo don't even interact, but there's also so little downtime for Odo's character that it's hard to write him into a new subplot. Uncle kink involving Quark?? HELP.
