Random thoughts:

- Kind of fascinating banter between O'Brien and Muniz here.

- I'm already loving this B plot with Odo, Quark, Bashir, and Kira. The fact that Odo has his hand on Quark's shoulder the entire time is sending me. Oh wait, this isn't even a B plot -- it's just an Obligatory Scene to fit in the four characters who aren't on the survey mission. Amazing scene.

- Oh no Benzite on the shuttle, we hardly knew you.

- It's very interesting how much effort they put into establishing a familiar dynamic between O'Brien and Muniz in order to establish the stakes throughout the episode, even with essentially a redshirt character. Like, the medic and the shuttle crew go down in a blink of an eye, but Muniz remains the focus of the episode for so long that it's believable that the rest of the team are at their limit here and their morale is breaking down, and his death manages to have impact.

- Downer episode, but I love this portrayal of the difference between the Dominion and the Federation, and that the tendency of the Dominion to leap straight to deceptive tactics tends to clash hard with the Federation's open and honest approach.

Quodo potential:

- Odo: It seems that Quark took the opportunity to import illegal Regalian liquid crystals along with the fleaspiders. The crystals are a highly intoxicating and sometimes dangerous aphrodisiac.
Quark: What's love without danger?

Okay, first, lmao. Second, this is just asking for a sex pollen Quodo plot, right?! Maybe accidental dousing or maybe established relationship where Quark has the great idea to use this in the bedroom with Odo (lol).

- The reason why I was so amused about Odo's hand constantly on Quark's shoulder is that the fic I'm currently posting involves Odo constantly touching Quark, and I was worried it was a somewhat contrived plot convenience, but Odo is apparently Just Like That, lol. But yeah, in this case, Quark seems really unphased by it. I feel like there's some potential for Quark's POV about how he feels about Odo being handsy with him, basically.

I read through the fic linked above, and it is indeed background Quodo with (age-swapped) Garak/Bashir in the foreground, so I wouldn't count it. Reading it did remind me, though, that Odo is apparently a solid in this episode! I hadn't realized.
