Random thoughts:

- Lol, I always liked this fakeout opening of Sisko is LEAVING? The show is ENDING? Just kidding, he's just getting promoted to captain. This party scene is cute. I like people coming up to Sisko and saying an appropriate comment.

- I like how consistently nosy Jadzia is. Ben and Jadzia's dynamic is so good.

- I forgot about these scenes with O'Brien hearing ominous thumping noises coming from the service tunnels. Also, I think it's interesting that Julian is so suspicious here (and is replaced by a Changeling later on in this episode), right after watching 5x14/5x15 last week.

- Hm, I actually like Eddington in this episode. I feel like once he becomes an antagonist, his character becomes a bit boring, but he's got a lot of fun personality in this one, even though he's just slightly sketchy enough to be one of the main suspects of being a saboteur.

- The special effects in this episode are pretty cheesy XD I love the part when the Changeling morphs from looking like Odo back into his normal form(?) and starts hitting people on the shoulder to knock them out. It's just very silly and fun. The sort of aggressive linking featured in this episode is also interesting and just kind of doesn't come back or is ever mentioned again.

- A very DUN DUN DUN ending.

Overall, this episode is okay. I like the mystery/whodunnit elements to it but otherwise nothing too interesting IMO. I kind of appreciate watching it this week, though, because I was writing a fic for 5x15 and reviewing this episode was relevant to that fic because it revolves around Odo's feelings about not being able to detect Changeling infiltration. It's also interesting to me how many of the season opener/ender episodes are very Odo-focused (because they feature the Dominion prominently). For example, this season finale as well as the finale for season 4 revolve around Odo, at least once it's revealed that a Changeling is involved in the sabotage, and also the opening for season 3 is very Odo-focused too.

Thoughts on Quodo potential:

- Hm, I feel this is a bit repetitive from last week, but you could have Quark and Odo having a conversation in the wardroom about Sisko's promotion, or write a coda to this episode where Quark and Odo talk about Odo killing a fellow Changeling or something.

- Or an AU when Quark is on the Defiant, for reasons, and he's also involved in the intrigue and Changeling manhunt. (Randomly thinking about a Tumblr post I saw where someone was like, "Okay, but if people want expertise on how to root out a Changeling, WHY didn't they ask Quark? He's clearly got the most experience." Lol.)

-- Actually, this episode reminds me that I LOVE that trope where a loved one has to figure out who is their partner and who is the impersonator. Maybe you could write something like that involving Odo and Quark, instead of Odo and O'Brien, inspired by this episode.
