- RIP to all these minor characters. ToT It makes me so sad that Lupaza and Furel are gone starting from this episode -- I always liked them in "Shakaar."
- I like the running joke about how much Kira hates makara herbs.
- I like this scene with Nog helping with forensics on the audio messages. The dynamic between him, Jadzia, and Kira is just really fun.
- There are a lot of interesting shots in this episode! Like the scene when Odo and Sisko are talking in Sisko's office and the camera is just sweeping around Odo, and then the framing of Kira in the infirmary.
- I like how Kira in this episode is just a bit crazy. Odo's reaction when he finds out she left in a runabout. XD And then her being totally unrepentant at the end is just extremely Kira.
- I know people have pointed it out, but the "fifteen million Bajorans died during the Occupation" figure here is insanely low, unless Bajor is just a tiny planet, or that's like a per-year figure or something.
Overall, I like this episode. It's a fun murder mystery/thriller, good character study of Kira, and I also like that Kira's pregnancy is plot-relevant in this one. I feel like Kira's episodes are reliably A-tier or greater, and that pattern holds here.
Thoughts on Quodo potential:
- Huh yeah, another episode that doesn't really have much room for Quodo because it's pretty narrowly focused on Kira. I guess you could have a bit of an extended version of Quark's scene here -- how did he come to have that PADD, why did he try to activate it, maybe have Odo react to Quark's story here or something.
- I don't know how you'd make it Quodo but Dax mentions asking Quark to lend her some latinum. I feel like that conversation would make a cute missing scene, and then maybe the topic of Odo comes up? I don't know.
