Random thoughts:

- Interesting how in this opening scene, they keep avoiding explicitly mentioning sex here.

- Also interesting that O'Brien says there are about 300 people aboard the station at this (early) point in time, and 5 or 6 ships dock per week.

- Also that this is the first "first contact" episode in DS9? Also, the first Prime Directive episode? Very TNG.

- I always thought it was cute that Quark doesn't like being called "barkeep" lol. Also:
Tosk: I have no use for fantasy adventure. I live the greatest adventure one could ever desire.
Quark: (impressed) Then I envy you, Mr. Tosk.
Cute moment, and also some quite early evidence that Ferengi are risk-seeking. Also, random, but I also like the usage of the construction "the Brothers Quark" featured in this episode (I'm not sure if it's ever used again) because it reminds me of the Mario brothers -- like, older mononymous brother giving his name to the duo. XD

- O'Brien straight up interrupting Bashir lol.

- Hm, I kind of wonder what the Odo painting is meant to be of?

- I love casual superbeing Odo, who doesn't flinch when confronted by Tosk.

- I love the cheesy different transporter effect.

- Oh man, lol, I don't remember Odo just getting punched and knocked down here. XD This episode, though minor, does establish an important trait of Odo, which is that he doesn't use weapons.

- Also, Quark is being cute in this scene trying to cheer up O'Brien.

- I love the recurring thing in these early seasons of Odo being really sensitive about having his authority revoked or overridden by Starfleet. He's so petulant. XD

- Are these hunters... dead? Kind of awkward if so.

- Another episode I feel that establishes Sisko's very different captaining style compared to Picard (referring to his harsh conversation with O'Brien at the end).

Overall, this episode is a bit cheesy, kind of full of early-installment weirdness, and a bit forgettable (only one fic for this episode T_T), but it's a cute O'Brien episode. Also has some fun Quark scenes and establishes some important things about Odo too.

Thoughts on Quodo potential:

Oh man, I don't know. They don't really interact in this one.

- Maybe Tosk's lack of vices and interest in holosuites reminds Quark of a certain someone? IDK.

- Maybe you could have a little coda where Quark and Odo chat about the events of this episode, like Odo catching Tosk tampering with the security systems, or Odo complaining to Quark about Starfleet ways of handling aliens or something, or Quark gossiping to Odo about Tosk or O'Brien or something.
